Edgar Allan Poe was born Jan. 19, 1809 in Boston. His father, David Poe, left the family while Edgar was still young. His mother, Elizabeth Arnold Poe, died when he was 3 and Poe became an orphan. Poe was raised by family friends, John Allan and Frances Keeling Valentine Allan.
Annabel Lee was published on Oct. 9, 1849, two days after Poe’s death.
